How can I get my vehicle inspected?
We can appraise the damages communicating with you directly using FaceTime or Skype, on your smartphone. If your vehicle is drivable, a "drive in" inspection is available at one of our preferred shops. Additionally, we have field inspections available if your vehicle is not drivable. We encourage you reach out to us so that we may determine the best way to meet your inspection needs. Please contact our dispatch department:
Texas only 972-764-0040, or customer service at 800-450-8247.
All other states 877-283-8257, or customer service at 800-344-2150.
Can I take my car to any repair facility?
Yes, it is your choice where you have your car repaired. If you don't have a shop, we can supply you with a list of our preferred repair facilities that would be happy to repair your vehicle and guarantee the repairs.
What if there is additional damage found after the repair facility starts repairing my car?
Many times, the body shop discovers additional hidden damages not visible at the time of the initial inspection, after the repairs begin. This is called a supplement and the body shop will contact us directly to request another inspection if required. Our appraiser would then write a supplemental estimate.
Will United Auto pay for a rental vehicle after I report my accident?
If you have purchased the optional coverage for rental reimbursement, we will reimburse you for renting a vehicle from a rental car company, based on your state specific policy limits. You can check your limits on the claims website.
What is a Total Loss?
We may declare your car a total loss when the amount of repairs plus the salvage value exceeds the market value or actual cash value of your car, or as required by state regulations. Your claim file will be assigned to a total loss representative who will contact you to answer your questions. You can assist us in this process by gathering your lienholder account information. The fact that your vehicle is declared a total loss does not relieve you of your obligation to your lienholder.
What do I do if my car is a Total Loss?
You should immediately release your vehicle from the tow yard or your body shop and have it moved to a storage free facility. If you choose not to release or move your vehicle you may be responsible for any additional charges. We can assist you with this by calling our dispatch department directly at:
Texas only 972-764-0040, or customer service at 800-450-8247.
All other states 877-283-8257, or customer service at 800-344-2150.
When will my claim be concluded?
Your adjuster has to confirm coverage and liability, and complete an investigation. We will require that all documents requested have been submitted to us. For example: your Written Report of Accident form, police report, vehicle appraisal. Since every claim situation is different, the time needed to process and complete your auto claim properly can vary. A more complex or difficult situation may require more time, but a simple claim can be resolved within a shorter period of time.
Can you help me move my car from the tow yard?
Yes, if you have coverage we can help. Please release your vehicle to United Auto ASAP and we can assist in moving it to a storage free facility or preferred repair shop.
